چکیده
Abstract The invasive annual grass downy brome ( Bromus tectorum L.) is a critical threat to the semiarid shrublands that characterize western North America. More abundant fine fuel after invasion typically increases fire frequency in plant communities adapted relatively infrequent burning, reducing likelihood of native persistence. Currently, imazapic most often used manage B. , but reinvasion from seedbank treatment common. Indaziflam newer herbicide recently labeled for use rangelands grazed by livestock, and many research trials have demonstrated its ability deplete seedbanks. We evaluated effectiveness indaziflam density cover over period approximately 5 yr (57 mo [MAT]) at two invaded sagebrush-grassland sites near Pinedale, WY. Treatments included three different rates (51, 73, 102 g ai ha −1 ) one rate (123 ), these treatments were reapplied half each plot 45 MAT evaluate effects sequential applications. also measured perennial cover, because positive responses observed release competition other studies, grasses may provide resistance reinvasion. Intermediate high (73 respectively) reduced MAT, responded positively some treatments, mostly early study (≤33 MAT). Imazapic initially, did not affect or either site beyond 21 MAT. Reapplication substantially improve control 57 plots treated with intermediate rates, suggesting long-term single be possible cases.

Rehabilitating Downy Brome (Bromus tectorum)–Invaded Shrublands Using Imazapic and Seeding with Native Shrubs
Rehabilitation of downy brome–infested shrublands is challenging once this invasive grass dominates native communities. The effectiveness of imazapic herbicide in reducing downy brome cover has been variable, and there is uncertainty about the impacts of imazapic on native species. We used a before-after-control-impact (BACI) field experiment and greenhouse studies to (1) determine if imazapic ...
متن کاملVariable Impacts of Imazapic Rate on Downy Brome (Bromus tectorum) and Seeded Species in Two Rangeland Communities
The herbicide imazapic is registered for use on rangelands and provides effective short-term control of certain invasive annual grasses. However, details about optimal application rates for downy brome and susceptibility of simultaneously seeded species are lacking. Thus, we investigated downy brome and seeded species responses to variable rates of imazapic (0, 35, 70, 105, and 140 g ai/ha) in ...

In Australia, remotely sensed Landsat TM data is routinely used for mapping and monitoring the change in extent of woody perennial vegetation cover providing information for conservation, land management and for modelling carbon flux and water use. For a variety of reasons including land cover definitions and sensor spectral limitations, studies have tended to focus on reporting changes in land...

Western juniper (Juniperus occidentalis ssp. occidentalis Hook) encroachment into mountain big sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata spp. vaseyana (Rydb.) Western juniper has been successfully controlled with partial cutting followed by prescribed burning the next fall, ...
